Dr Jean has over 19 years of technical and research experience in the field of integrated water resources management (IWRM), catchment management plan, rainwater harvesting systems, hydrologic and water quality modelling, water quality assessment and monitoring, water and wastewater treatment processes and plants, Environmental and Social Impact Assessment studies (ESIA), GIS and in renewable energy. He has also deep skills in project management, staff recruitment, human resources management, leadership, development of project proposals, resources mobilization, organizing and chairing conferences. He occupied various positions in Rwanda such as, a permanent lecturer of water resources and environmental technology, Environmental scientist, geochemist, research assistant and Environmental specialist.
Dr Jean N. Namugize is currently a Regional Water Quality Expert at Nile Basin Initiative Secretariat in Entebbe/Uganda.
Dr Jean completed PhD studies in hydrology at University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN), with specialization in land use/land cover change evaluation and catchment hydrological modelling and earned both Master of Science and Bachelor of Science from the University of Rwanda where he guested lectures on regular basis and earned a certificate of fellowship in environmental studies from the United Nations University Geothermal Training Programme in Iceland.
