Stuart Warner works for UNEP’s GEMS/Water Programme as an SDG indicator 6.3.2 specialist. He formerly worked for GEMS/Water’s Capacity Development Centre based at University College Cork, Ireland.
He has a Masters degree in Water Quality and has published in the areas of water quality monitoring and assessment and citizen science approaches to data collection, and was a section editor for Elsevier’s Encyclopaedia of Inland Waters published in 2022.
Stuart has been the lead author on UN Water’s SDG indicator 632 Progress Reports published in 2018 and 2021 as well as publishing reports aimed at understanding the capacity of countries to monitor and assess their freshwaters, highlighting the challenges faced in different world regions. His professional interests include using both traditional and innovative approaches to understand and protect freshwater ecosystems.
