Dan’s goals are to serve the entire community, to create better communication between our citizens and City Hall, and to promote the positive aspects of life here in Lubbock. Public safety, creating new job opportunities, and bringing common sense leadership to City Hall operations are additional priorities of Dan’s administration. As Lubbock’s Mayor, Dan believes it is important to ensure the City is working for the best interests of all Lubbock citizens when tax dollars are spent and long-term decisions are made. Our citizens, neighborhoods, schools, private businesses, churches, and non-profit organizations all have an important role in leading our city towards a better future.
Dan spent the first decade of his professional career in sales and sales management with Xerox Corporation. Dan founded Benchmark Business Solutions in 1994, and grew his business enterprise into the most successful Xerox Agent-Dealer in the country - - creating over 70 jobs in Lubbock. Dan recently served as Chief Development Officer of Covenant Health System.
Mayor Pope has been an active member of the Lubbock community for more than 25 years. He has spent much of his time serving in leadership positions throughout the community, including the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, United Way Board and Campaigns, First United Methodist Church, and the Covenant Health System Board of Trustees. Dan was a member of the Lubbock Independent School District Board of Trustees for nine years and served as president of the Board.
Dan received his B.B.A in Finance from the Rawls College of Business at Texas Tech University in 1985. He is an active member of First Methodist Church. Dan is married to Denise Pope and they have two children: Manning and Anne Claire. Dan is an eighth-generation Texan, and an Eagle Scout.
Dan Pope was elected Mayor of the City of Lubbock on May 7, 2016.
