OpenSynergy shows a use case realized on the latest version of the virtualization platform COQOS Hypervisor SDK. The hypervisor-based cockpit controller combines mixed criticality functions (safety and non-safety relevant) within a single Renesas R-Car H3 Salvator-XS development platform. It integrates entertainment, infotainment applications, and driver information systems providing safety-critical information from vehicle systems. The type-1 hypervisor has been designed as a low-complexity embedded hypervisor especially fitting to automotive applications. It is TÜV-certified to ISO 26262:2018 ASIL-B. COQOS Hypervisor SDK supports a large bundle of VIRTIO features. VIRTIO was originally developed for enterprise virtualization workloads and cloud computing that make high demands on data processing performance. In cooperation with GENIVI OpenSynergy drives the acceptance of VIRTIO as a standard to be used in the automotive industry.
