C. Quintana, or CQ (she/any) is a queer writer with Cuban and Louisiana roots based on Canarsie and Munsee Lenape land in Cypress Hills, Brooklyn. Her work is stirred by the mantra, “you are not alone.” CQ's plays include Azul (Diversionary Theatre; Southern Rep in association with the Tennessee Williams Festival), Citizen Scientist (Barrington Stage Company Burman New Play Award), Scissoring (World Premiere at INTAR; published via Dramatists Play Service), Evensong (Astoria Performing Arts Center), Enter Your Sleep (Yale Cabaret), and more. They are the recipient of commissions from Audible, the Civilians, and the Ensemble Studio Theatre/Alfred P. Sloan Project, as well as fellowships and residencies from Tin House, WP Theater, MacDowell, Lark/Van Lier New Voices, and beyond. This past year, the inaugural Out in Hollywood “Out Loud List” featured CQ’s dramedy pilot Career Gay, and her novel-in-progress, The Twisted Fate of La Media Luna, was selected as a finalist in the Craft First Chapters Contest. CQ is currently at work on a feature project with Baobab Studios and 3dar, as well as a stage adaptation of Elizabeth Acevedo’s Beastgirl & Other Origin Myths with composer Janelle Lawrence to premiere at the Kennedy Center Theater for Young Audiences in April 2022.
