16 Hour On-the-Job $150.00 (8:00am - 4:00pm) 4/25 - 4/26
Within the first 90 days of employment as a Security Guard, the 16-hour security guard training course must be completed, as required by NYS. This two-day class revisits the Pre-Assignment material while adding three new topics.
April 25 - 26, 2024  ·  Training Academy Room

In addition to your studies within the 8 Hour Pre-Assignment, the 16 Hour On-the Job introduces Report Writing, Overview of the Incident Command System and Terrorism Related Topics. Due in large part to the excessive amount of material needed to be covered in both days, this course will be presented in a way that reinforces and expands upon what was learned in the 8 Hour Pre-Assignment.

Each course topic will again be taught from an on-site perspective, focusing on helping security officers understand situational awareness, effective use of command presence and how confidence drawn from knowledge will almost always allow them to carry out sites post orders in an efficient and effective manner.

Course Topics

  • Role of a Security Guard
  • Legal Powers and Limitations
  • Emergency Situations
  • Communications and Public Relations
  • Access Control
  • Ethics and Conduct
  • Report Writing
  • Incident Command Center
  • Terrorism Related Topics
  • Review and Examination

We realize how important the information within the 16 Hour OTJ is to the initial success of any security officer. Even more important is what you actually learn and get from this two-day course study. P.I. sees it as more than a state requirement and dollar transaction. As with your 8 Hour Pre-Assignment, the 16 Hour OTJ are attended only once. That said, you’ll be expected to protect and keep safe whichever site you’re assigned. We will do everything we can to assure you can fulfill these expectations.
