This course, designed for Firestop Special Inspectors, Architects, Engineers Contractors, and Code Officials.  Will review the firestopping requirements of the International Building Code, as well as discuss why firestop inspections and submittals have proven to be a difficult challenge for Design Professionals and Firestop Inspectors. We will provide Tips and Techniques to a good quality inspection including methods to achieve inspection of firestop systems for penetrations, Joints, and perimeter containment. This course will also review the ASTM firestop inspection standards.  Overall, attendees will leave this program informed, encouraged, and equipped with Firestop Industry Best Practices to help them in their field of work.  Code Officials: approved for PDE - Professional Development Elective.


Speaker: Brice Miller 
Brice has over 25 years’ experience as a Building Official, Inspector and Plans Examiner.  For more than 16 years he has been a recognized speaker throughout the US on firestopping.  Brice served for 2 ½ years as the Executive Director of the International Firestop Council.  He had the opportunity to develop two full day on-line firestop training sessions for the International Code Council (ICC) program called “Credential of Learning Achievement” that is required by most Firestop Special Inspectors in California.  Brice is a Past President of the Colorado Chapter of ICC.
