After 40 years, it is time for the next evolution in tendon layouts for two-way, post-tensioned concrete building slabs. This presentation explores the history and projects the future of two-way, PT slabs for various building applications.


About Our Speakers:

Asit Baxi, PH.D., President, Baxi Engineering, Inc.

Dr. Baxi is President of Baxi Engineering Inc. (BEI) and Global Post-tensioning Solutions (GPT). He is actively involved with the Post-tensioning Institute and serves as a voting member on the following: Board of Directors, DC-20 Building Design Committee(Chair), DC-20A BIM Committee, DC-20 TG on Two-way Banded Research, DC-20 TG on Restraint to Shortening, DC-25 Parking Structures Committee, M-10 T Gon Barrier Cable, M-10 TG on Performance-Based Specifications and TAB TG on Code Change Proposals for ACI 318-T and ACI 320. He is also actively involved with the American Concrete Institute and is a voting member on the 318-T Building Code Committee (Post-tensioning), 301-ISpecifications Committee (Post-tensioning), and 423 – Prestressed Concrete Committee. Baxi is also a PTI Fellow.

Tim Christle, P.E., Executive Vice President, Post-Tensioning Institute

Tim Christle, P.E., currently serves as the Executive Vice President for the Post-Tensioning Institute (PTI). His focus is to fulfill PTI’s mission by promoting and advancing the post-tensioning industry through education and technical leadership. Christle’s 33 years in the A/E/C industry has revolved around post-tensioned concrete structures. His background includes structural engineering consulting and management roles with national A/E firms as well as business development and marketing endeavors with both a post-tensioning systems supplier and a structural concrete subcontractor.

Jonathan Hirsch, P.E.,Software Development Manager, Bentley Systems, Inc.

Jonathan Hirsch is a Software Development Manager at Bentley Systems, Inc. He is responsible for implementation of concrete design standards and feature advancement in Bentley’s structural software portfolio including RAM Concept. Jonathan has 27 years of experience in the post-tensioning industry and his contributions include publications, online lectures, and extensive work on PTI committees. Jonathan pioneered a technology to apply cloud-based use of evolutionary algorithms to the design and optimization of post-tensioned concrete floors. He is the current Chair of PTI’s BIM Subcommittee, a member of PTI’s Technical Advisory Board and Board of Directors and is an active member of the Building Design and Education Committees. Hirsch is also a PTI Fellow.
