Complices depuis un certain temps, Jan et Cécile aiment surfer avec et entre leurs instruments, alternant des compositions et des improvisations libres. Ces trajectoires, le long de terrains aériens presque irréels, se dirigent vers des paysages plus articulés, complexes, l’écriture dictant les règles, le jeu et l’exploration sont de mise. Ce qui pimentera la sauce sonore de ces promenades qui vivent d'un esprit ludique...
Cécile Broché est née un violon dans les mains, et ne l'a plus lâché... Ces dernières années (c’est-à-dire avant l’apparition des virus), partageant son temps entre l’Europe et New York, elle a collaboré et/ou enregistré avec Barre Philips, Garrett List, Daniel Carter, Diederick Wissels, Chris Joris, Jacques Siron,…bref, toute une bande de joyeux jazzmen et d'improvisateurs de tous crins. Comme compositrice, elle écrit pour le théâtre, la danse, et aime créer en combinant la musique avec les sons du quotidien. Kartinka, son dernier CD avec Jacques Pirotton et Antoine Cirri a reçu un accueil enthousiaste de la critique (4****/4 dans le Mad)
Après des études à la Scuola Popolare di Musica di Testaccio (Rome) et aux Conservatoires de Perugia (Italie) & Liege (Belgique), Jan s’ installe à Bruxelles, où il vit depuis 1991.
Il a joué plusieurs années avec le « Back to Normal Big Band » et le quartet « Koba ». En tant que compositeur, Jan a collaboré avec l’ Ensemble ICTUS et avec l’Orchestre de Flandre, ceci dans le cadre d’un hommage à Frank Zappa. En 2007, il joue en duo avec le pianiste-compositeur Fabian Fiorini au Festival Jazz à Liège. Cette collaboration se poursuit avec une tournée (janvier 2008) dans le cadre du Jazzlab Series et la sortie d’ un CD, « Music for Food » . Il a collaboré avec entre autre ,Garrett List et Bud Blumenthal, Kaat de Windt, Misha Mengelberg, Sonic Youth, Ensemble Ictus, Arno, Elettronica Viva : Anthony Braxton, Alvin Curran, Steve Lacy, Richard Teitelbaum, Frederic Rzewski, Abdo Dagher,...

Jan en Cécile vormen al enige tijd een duo. Allebei houden ze van experimenteren met hun instrumenten, zowel in composities als in vrije improvisaties. Muzikaal reizen ze van hogere, haast immateriële sferen naar meer aardse, complexe landschappen. Het schrijven zelf dicteert de regels, spelen en ontdekken zijn de rode draad. Een ludiek, pittig en gewaagd bad van klanken!
Cécile Broché werd geboren met een viool in haar handen, en heeft die nooit meer losgelaten... In de afgelopen jaren (dat wil zeggen voordat er virussen verschenen), verdeelde ze haar tijd tussen Europa en New York, en werkte ze samen (op scène en in opnamestudio's) met Barre Philips, Garrett List, Daniel Carter, Diederick Wissels, Chris Joris, Jacques Siron,… Als componist schrijft ze voor theater en dans, in haar creaties combineert ze graag muziek met alledaagse geluiden. Kartinka, haar nieuwste cd met Jacques Pirotton en Antoine Cirri, werd enthousiast onthaald door critici (4****/4 in Mad)

Jan and Cécile have been a duo for some time now. Both love to experiment with their instruments, both in composition and free improvisation. Musically they travel from higher, almost immaterial spheres to more earthly, complex landscapes. The writing itself dictates the rules, playing and discovering are the common thread. A playful, spicy and daring bath of sounds!
