In conjunction with Tarboro’s trick-or-treat event, Stations of the Curse, Edgecombe Arts presents FLICKER, a free carved pumpkin show and contest on October 31 on the grounds of the Blount-Bridgers House. Come out and enjoy the spectacle of dozens of glowing jack-o-lanterns, and vote for your favorites in six categories. Better still, contribute examples of your own carving skill to light up the night. You might even win a prize! Click Register to enter up to three jack-o-lanterns. (Read contest rules below.)
Rules
- Each entrant may submit up to three jack-o-lanterns. Carving using freehand techniques or prepared patterns will both be accepted. Organizers reserve the right to reject entries deemed inappropriate.
- Entries will be accepted at the Blount-Bridgers House on Tuesday, October 30, from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. and on Wednesday, October 31, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Please provide a votive candle to light each jack-o-lantern you bring.
- Pumpkins will be lighted at 5 p.m. on Halloween. From 5:30–9:00 p.m., spectators will be invited to vote for their favorites in these six categories: Best Overall, Best Traditional, Scariest, Funniest, Cutest, and Most Creative. (One entrant may win in multiple categories.)
- Votes will be tallied and winners announced on November 1.
- Pumpkins may be collected on Thursday, November 1, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Uncollected pumpkins will be composted.
