This is a one day conference collaboratively held by Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, NHS Leeds CCG, Leeds City Council, Public Health England and Leeds and York Partnership NHS Trust.
In November 2016 the Health Secretary introduced a commitment to halve the number of gram-negative bloodstream infections (BSI) by 2020. E. coli infection represents 65% of this group and over one third of all BSIs each year. In 2015/16, deaths in NHS patients attributed to E. coli BSI totalled 5,500 and it is estimated that by 2018 E. coli BSI will cost the NHS £2.3 billion.
We look forward to welcoming a range of local and national speakers to share key information to aid the reduction strategy.
We hope you have a wonderful day, hearing the sessions, networking with colleagues and visiting the exhibitions.
