Join representatives of the New York State Education Department (NYSED) and the Board for a discussion about the regulated practice of engineering and the responsibilities of design professionals in New York. Topics will include, among other things, professional entities authorized to practice, supervising and signing work, contracting practices, and professional conduct. The discussion will focus on common practice issues and will also inform PE’s who are mentoring others and endorsing licensure qualifying engineering experience.

Speakers: Eric Greppo, PE and Len Woods, PE

Eric Greppo, PE is the Executive Secretary of the New York State Boards for Engineering, Land Surveying, Geology and Interior Design since 2022.  The State Boards for the Professions assist the Regents and the Education Department on all aspects of professional education, licensing, practice, and discipline for over one million licensed professionals, in more than 50 health, business and design professions. 

Mr. Greppo holds a BS degree in civil engineering, has been a licensed Professional Engineer in New York since 2007, and has over 20 years of engineering experience that includes private design consulting in land development and water resources, and engineering roles with the DEC Bureau of Design and Construction and the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision technical services unit. 

Len Woods, PE is a Board member of the New York State Boards for Engineering, Land Surveying and Geology since 2018 and is currently the chairman of the Access and Outreach to the Professions committee.  The State Boards for the professions assist the Regents and the Education Department on all aspects of professional education, licensing, practice, and discipline for over one million licensed professionals, in more than 50 health, business and design professions. 

Mr. Woods holds a BS degree in wood products engineering and an MS degree in environmental and resource engineering.  He has been a licensed Professional Engineer in New York since 1996 with over 40 years of construction, inspection and engineering experience in the public and private sectors for industrial, commercial, health care, and educational clients.  Mr. Woods is currently Vice President of Engineering for Ramboll.
