As schools return to a new normal after a tumultuous 2+ years, the legal landscape for schools has shifted. A wave of COVID rules has come and partially subsided, the Supreme Court is recasting the way public schools deal with First Amendment rights, student discipline is peaking as students reacclimate to in-person school, and schools remain the crucible in which communities battle over numerous social issues.
Don't miss out on this opportunity to hear from a panel of Hodges Loizzi attorneys who navigate these issues with school leaders every day. You'll leave this half-day seminar up to date on the latest school law news, equipped with practical tips, and knowing you're in good hands with our team as issues arise down the road.
The year's conference will address:
- praying coaches, religious flags, and other First Amendment issues;
- student discipline;
- sexual misconduct reporting;
- collective bargaining;
- COVID and its fallout;
- OMA & FOIA;
- time out and physical restraint;

Check in and continental breakfast begins at 8:15 am, followed by the general session from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm. Lunch and the ever-informative “Stump the Lawyers” Q&A session will conclude the day’s events by 2:30 pm.
This seminar is eligible for 3 PD Hours from IASA, and attendees will receive a PDF version of the comprehensive seminar book, The Year in Review: The Highlights and Lowlights of Illinois School Law 2022.
