This seminar focuses on a 600K+ industrial property which was taken to a net zero standard. Building envelopes, thermal bridges, energy recovery and controls. How to use thermal imaging, temperature and humidity sensors to eliminate thermal bridges and air infiltration in a building that is over half long.

The project was awarded a 1.1-million-dollar grant from the NJ Board of Public Utilities and generated the worlds first Engineering Emmy as the greatest energy reduction project in buildings over ½ million square feet.  The project was audited by 2 independent energy auditing firms and NJ Attorney General office and NJ Smart Starts.

The projected energy savings and Energy Star and full project audit produced better savings than projected and produced over 9000 kilowatt hours back into the grid in the first month after it was fully commissioned than it took from the grid creating a Net Zero Building Project.

The life cycle benefit analysis for different building components was analyzed with full building energy model for a 20-year weather bin data for the different ERM (energy reduction methods) and the options were rated using ASHRAE SIR to Owning and Operating Cost of Commercial Building Chapter Haglid (2011) and Haglid (2019) Handbook Chapters.
