This event will consist of two 1.5 hour panel discussions. The first will cover Ethical Challenges in Healthcare Leadership. Ethical challenges arise in all aspects of healthcare and service, from the bedside to the boardroom. Hospital leaders and boards set the ethical compass of the organization by making decisions about priorities, policies and resource allocation as they determine the best ways to meet the needs of their communities, while respecting their staff and the populations they serve. Understanding the expanding paradigm of planning, creating and maintaining an ethical healthcare organization is crucial to help identify strategies for implementing ethics initiatives within your own organization and how an organization has addressed ethical challenges. Healthcare leaders must “walk the talk” and demonstrate their commitment to ethics throughout their organization.
The second panel will discuss Building an Ethical Culture. A sound ethical culture is essential for organizational success. A key component to any organization’s culture is the ethical behavior of the staff and the alignment between organizational values and performance outcomes. By building and maintaining an ethically grounded culture, leaders at all levels can ensure that the organization’s mission, vision and values are reflected consistently in employees’ daily activities and in their decisions. This panel presentation will focus on an ethically grounded culture and how such a culture goes beyond law or regulatory compliance. The session will promote the development of practical strategies to foster and maintain an ethical culture within their respective organizations.
This event will provide 3 hours of ACHE Face-to-Face education credits.
