Program Overview
IN-PERSON & LIVE VIRTUAL CONFERENCE

The Advanced Heart Failure Summit: From Cardiogenic Shock to Heart Transplant is a full-day, multidisciplinary program dedicated to the evolving management of advanced heart failure across the entire spectrum of care. This comprehensive symposium brings together leaders in cardiology, cardiac surgery, mechanical circulatory support, critical care, and transplantation to explore cutting-edge strategies, emerging technologies, and real-world clinical decision-making.

The program begins with an in-depth review of cardiogenic shock, including modern SCAI classification, phenotyping, risk stratification, device selection, advanced ECMO and Impella approaches, and complex case discussions. The morning continues with a forward-looking session on LVAD therapy, highlighting optimization of durable MCS, arrhythmia management, anticoagulation, prevention of driveline infection, use of CardioMEMS and novel monitoring tools, and future innovations in device technology.

Following a keynote address on training the next generation of Advanced HF specialists, the afternoon focuses on the latest advances in heart transplantation, including noninvasive monitoring (cfDNA, TTVR), tissue gene expression, desensitization strategies, management of AMR and CAV, multiorgan transplant considerations, transplant for amyloid cardiomyopathy, malignancy post-transplant, and CMV resistance. The day concludes with a high-impact case-based session featuring challenging scenarios in LVAD and transplant care, followed by a poster session and networking reception.

The symposium provides an unparalleled opportunity for clinicians, surgeons, researchers, trainees, and allied health professionals to deepen expertise, share experience, and advance excellence in the care of patients with advanced heart failure.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the symposium, participants will be able to:

  • Describe cardiogenic shock phenotypes, risk stratificiation, and modern device-based management strategies.
  • Understand approaches to LVAD therapy, including optimization, arrhythmia management, anticoagulation, and prevention of complications.
  • Evaluate contemporary heart transplant care, including noninvasive monitoring, rejection management, and outcomes in complex paient populations.
  • Analyze complex clinical cases to improve multidisciplinary decision-making in advanced heart failure care.
  • Incorporate emerging technologies and best practices to optimize patient outcomes across the continuum of advanced heart failure.
