Dementia affects millions worldwide and presents complex challenges for individuals, caregivers, and healthcare teams. Physical therapists physical therapist assistants play a critical role in promoting brain health and optimizing function across the lifespan. This interactive explore the science and practice behind dementia care, equipping participants with practical strategies to enhance patient outcomes caregivers. We will begin by examining at least three modifiable factors such as physical activity, nutrition, and social engagement, and three factors, including age, genetics, and family history, that influence brain health throughout life. Understanding these factors is essential interventions and anticipating care needs. Next, we will discuss the unique contributions of PTs and PTAs in recognizing cognitive changes, managing mobility and safety, and health principles into treatment plans. Participants will learn how to apply two evidence-based strategies such as dual-task training exercise within an interprofessional care framework for individuals living with dementia. Finally, the session will emphasize effective communication techniques for collaboration across disciplines, including occupational language pathology, nursing, and social work.
