A critical responsibility for any clinician is to quickly identify those patients who need the services of another health care provider. Knowledge of potential red flag findings and the ability to effectively communicate such concerns are paramount. This session highlights the potential impact of strong PT and PTA collaboration to ensure patients receive the right care, from the right person at the right time. The 2 primary objectives of this session include: 1. Early recognition of red flag warning signs of potentially serious pathological processes that warrant communication between PTA and PT, and possibly between PT and Physician 2. Employ communication strategies between PTA and patient; PTA and PT; PT and physician to facilitate making appropriate and timely patient referrals. The red flag discussion will focus on major depressive disorder, suicide risk, deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism and skin cancer, conditions that are common in our patient populations and carry significance in terms of morbidity and mortality.
