The essence of theatre is in its 3-dimensionality, it provides you with the sense of being in the same space and in sync with the time and action that is unfolding around the audience and the performer. However, the proscenium stages have populated the theatre space with 2-dimensional, conventional scenery that tried to create a realistic world. The power of theatre is not in creating a 'realistic world' but to allow the imagination to create a world. This workshop will give you entry into the non-realistic, abstract, and imaginary world of designing for theatre. Participants are encouraged to bring craft supplies if they have them - pieces of cardboard, newspaper, poster color, brushes, notepad, pencil, scissors, scale ruler.
