Shakespeare Behind Bars, a multiaward-winning documentary, follows a prison theater troupe consisting entirely of convicted felons while they prepare William Shakespeare's the Tempest for performace for a captive & public audience. The troupe, now in its 30th year, shares candid interviews, as the film crew chronicles the process from casting, through rehearsals, & finally to performances for the prison population and an invited public audience at the Luther Luckett Correctional Complex in La Grange, Kentucky. Following the screening, Curt L. Tofteland, the founder of Shakespeare Behind Bars, will be on hand to answer questions from the audience.
