Students will be introduced to Stanislavsky’s Active Analysis. This technique allows actors to analyze a scene physically and through active collaboration rather than intellectually. This work allows space for the actor’s instincts, creativity, and sense of play to come to the forefront. As a group, we will look at a set of scenes and engage in a round of Active Analysis. Through either active participation or observation, students will have the opportunity to see how the “etudes” or improvised vignettes can unlock beautiful and authentic theatrical moments.
