In November 2023, Alison and Tash collaborated on a production of Corsicana at the University of Pittsburgh, a play with themes of disability and care. Our production incorporated “access aesthetics,” a holistic approach to access for disabled audiences that incorporates disability accommodations like sign language interpretation, captioning, and audio description into the production’s staging and design. This workshop will reflect on the successes and challenges of audience-facing accessibility in Corsicana and prompt participants to consider how they might incorporate access into their creative practice.
