In this 90 minute crash course, participants will receive a condensed experience of the entire Arcade Comedy Theater curriculum. Starting with fundamentals of improvisation to foundations of scene work like game and pattern, participants will have opportunities to try both shortform and longform improvisation first hand. Participants will get an inside look at traditional comedy schooling, national comedy festivals and comedy tours, as well as popular structures and styles of contemporary improv and sketch comedy. We’ll examine the artistic value of improvisational theatre as collaboration free of friction and competition, as well as the commercial value of an improv background as one of the most desirable tools in the working actor’s toolkit.
