Most of us don't recognize our own biases, yet we have them. It is the very nature of being human. They shape our world view, our daily interactions with each other, our behaviors, and, most importantly, our decisions. And some of those decisions can have profound consequences for others. Many of us have the best intentions of being inclusive in all we do, but our underlying biases can still get in the way, often without us even knowing. These biases can subtly affect who is hired, what we think of our colleagues and other people with whom we’re collaborating, how we write and interact with people, and how we review written materials—all of which may have an impact on our work communications and relationships. This session will help you identify implicit bias and provide you with some strategies to enhance your engagement in your jobs and in everyday life to foster inclusivity.
