The 2025-2026 Facility Needs Survey that was delayed last year will soon be live. In preparation, this presentation will provide an overview of the survey focusing on methods of collecting the extensive data required for each school in the district.
Every 5 years, North Carolina state law requires all public school districts to complete a Facility Needs Survey. The last survey was completed during the 2020-2021 school year. School administrators expected to receive the survey materials during 2025, however, an upgrade to the software platform has resulted in a delay. NCDPI School Planning has confirmed that work on the survey is nearing completion and it should go out to school districts soon with a revised deadline. The presenter, Mr. Andrew LaRowe has been involved with each survey since the program began in 1988 as a district administrator, and since his retirement, as a consultant with BAISCA. His firm provided assistance to 23 public school districts with completion of the survey in 2020. The presentation will outline each component of the survey requirements and offer suggestions on how to efficiently collect the information required and complete the survey by the new due date. The survey offers a rare opportunity to communicate the school district’s facility needs to the school board, the county commissioners and especially the tax-paying community. It is a job that deserves to be done well.
