Participants will jump into a hands-on STEM design challenge that models how K-5 students can use the engineering design process to solve real-world problems connected to their communities. Participants will explore examples of community-connected challenges, analyze student work, and discuss strategies for adapting the experience across grade levels. The session will also highlight district-level structures that support equitable access to high-quality STEM instruction for all students. Participants will leave with a ready-to-use challenge, practical facilitation strategies, and ideas for connecting classroom learning to the real world in engaging, authentic ways.
