Transform your classroom into a dynamic STEM laboratory using the magical gateway of picture books! In this hands-on session, two experienced elementary School Media Coordinators and an amazing District STEM Coordinator will share their best practices for weaving STEM activities seamlessly into elementary instruction through the use of stories. First, we will explore some best practices from our "STEM Success Checklist" - a practical tool developed through years of successes and setbacks. We will briefly highlight these practices and show examples of how we have implemented them into our own classrooms. Then, prepare to become the students! Participants will have the opportunity to delve deeper into learning with a few selected hands-on stations, each inspired by kid-friendly picture books. Experience firsthand how a story about a tiny turtle can lead to a scientific investigation of its life cycle, or how a tale about kindness can lead to the creation of chain reactions. You will leave with concrete examples of how literature can lead to meaningful STEM experiences. Join us to discover how stories can be your springboard into successful STEM integration!
