When I started our school's STEM classroom in the 2023-24 school year I started with an empty classroom. I literally had nothing which was a blessing and a hardship at the same time. I learned very quickly to be resourceful and scrounge for materials that my students needed. I made lists for donations needed but that will only take you so far. I knew money was out there to support classrooms like mine and I was determined to find it. Since I moved into the role of STEM teacher I have applied for and received multiple grants. I have gotten two Bright Ideas grants from Piedmont Electric. I have received nine Donors Choose grants as of December, 2024. I knew nothing about writing grants when I started this adventure. In this session I hope to share my experiences writing grants and give participants resources they will find useful in writing and receiving their own grants. I have spent a lot of time researching grants and companies that give to schools and this information will be shared in this session.
