VSS and VSS Ontology – Standardized Description of Vehicle Signals for Future Data-Driven Services
Algorithms rely on vehicle sensor data. In order to build them reliably, in quality and at scale it needs a common and applicable understanding of the domain. However, currently there is a lack of open standards for vehicle signal data.
More and more applications and
The COVESA Vehicle Signal Specification (VSS) and its semantic counterpart – the Vehicle Specification Ontology (VSSo) developed in the W3C Automotive Working Group, are addressing this strong need for standardization.
In this talk, we will give an overview of the current status of VSS and the VSS Ontology, its history as well as our efforts towards being a W3C recommendation. We will show the concepts behind the VSS Ontology and how it can be further extended and integrated with other ontologies. Further, we’ll briefly discuss exemplary use of VSS/VSSo and give some insights when to use the one or the other.
