In light of the George Zimmerman verdict, The New Black Fest commissioned six very diverse playwrights to write 10-minute plays on the topic of Trayvon Martin, race and/or privilege. Facing Our Truth's purpose is to elicit serious discussion in our collective communities about these urgent issues. Following the presentation, we welcome all to stay and participate in a lively discussion to reflect on the topics of the piece and to discuss the role of artistic activism in our society and our perceived roles as creatives and citizens.
