Harmful Cyanobacterial Blooms: A Public Health Issue in Wisconsin’s Waters
Cyanobacteria, also known as blue-green algae, are in all Wisconsin water bodies. Their population growth to nuisance levels, called blooms, is primarily driven by nutrient pollution and the higher temperatures, longer growing seasons, and intensifying rainfall events that we are experiencing in Wisconsin as a result of climate change.

Assessing Nutrient Dynamics and Stream Condition with Biological Indicators to Protect Green Lake’s Tributaries
The purpose of this research is to assess the water quality of Green Lake’s impaired tributaries using biological indicators, and to understand the interconnectedness of local stressors that affect aquatic ecosystem conditions and nutrient pollution in the watershed.
