With more people enjoying our lakes than ever before and the watercraft being used to enjoy them getting larger and more powerful, impacts to lakes, shorelines, and human safety and enjoyment are becoming greater and more concerning. In this workshop we’ll cover everything from the legal underpinnings of our right to recreate on the water, to how to advocate for change. Final details are still being worked out but sessions may include:
- The Public Trust Doctrine and how we may need to change the way we think about it
- Carrying capacity for lakes - how to assess your lake and what the results might mean
- Educational tools for improving boater behavior
- Impacts from wakes - what’s the latest research?
- Boating ordinances in Wisconsin - process and content
- Tools for advocating for your lake to decision makers
