Human Trafficking During Disasters
This WORKSHOP provides insight to volunteers to be better aware of signs to which individuals might become enslaved in human trafficking.
7:00 PM - 9:30 PMThu
This WORKSHOP will help disaster volunteers in becoming aware and identifying signs to which individuals (men, women and children) might be enslaved in human trafficking. Traffickers many times take advantage of disaster situations to transport victims through disaster areas while law enforcement is too busy responding to the disaster. The traffickers also sell the services of these victims to do debris removal; commercial sex in exchange for basic necessities (food, water, and housing) or take advantage of receiving disaster financial assistance. This workshop is recommended for those who may serve as disaster case managers or disaster response chaplains or canteen workers.
