How do librarians continue to meet their community's needs without a library building? This session will share the experiences of the librarians at a small liberal arts college in ensuring continuation of library services before and during a total building renovation. We will discuss how we assessed our community's library needs prior to the renovation, and, informed by our experiences during COVID, developed low or no budget initiatives to meet those needs during the year the building is inaccessible. These included teaching our community about changes in services using traditional (e.g. campus announcements) and non-traditional (e.g. pop-up libraries) methods, and using programming to build excitement about a delayed renovation project. These ideas can be applied outside of renovations and can be used to 'get the library out of the building' to market library services to community members who are not yet library users.
