AUTOSAR and COVESA as part of the SDV Alliance: Unifying the Software Defined Vehicle Ecosystem
The automotive industry is rapidly transitioning toward the era of Software Defined Vehicles (SDVs). As we embark on this transformative journey, collaboration becomes paramount.
Enter the SDV Alliance, a unique collaboration of SDV relevant consortia— initially AUTOSAR, Eclipse SDV, COVESA and SOAFEE—working together to harmonize standards, methodologies, and technologies for SDVs. The SDV Alliance bridges gaps not only within individual consortia but also between them. By clarifying each consortium’s contributions and demonstrating their interconnectedness, the Alliance aims to create a unified vision for SDVs.
The Alliance embraces existing SDV descriptions from various efforts and external organizations. It seeks to agree on a clear, unified definition of what constitutes an SDV. Recognizing the complexity of SDVs, the Alliance pools core competencies from each organization. By aligning methodologies and standards, it ensures seamless development across varied execution environments. With over 360 global partners, AUTOSAR brings extensive experience in in-vehicle software. AUTOSAR aims to facilitate a smooth transition to the SDV future, leveraging existing technologies and joint developments. COVESA connects the Vehicle to the Cloud and offers beyond that interface additional touchpoints. The SDV Alliance represents a collaborative force that transcends organizational boundaries. By aligning efforts, defining SDVs, and showcasing technical synergy, we pave the way for a reality where software-defined vehicles thrive. In this presentation, we want to show the contributions of AUTOSAR and COVESA to the joint effort and their bilateral collaboration.
