This seminar will address 12 historic Hudson River steel truss bridges built in the early 1900s to span the railroad and access the eastern shore of the Hudson River. The bridges include one on the Franklin Delano Roosevelt National Historic Site, as well as State Parks and privately owned bridges. The engineering significance of each bridge will be discussed as well as the current plans to have them preserved and restored under grants from the Preservation League of New York, Scenic Hudson, Inc, the Calvert Vaux Preservation Alliance, the Hudson River Valley Greenway and public/private partnerships.
