HICRIS is an advanced Geographic Information System program that provides access to Hawaiʻi's vast historic and cultural resource database as well as digitized paper records. HICRIS serves as an interactive portal for agencies, municipalities and others who use historic preservation programs, such as the State and Federal Income Tax Credits for Historic Properties, the State and National Registers of Historic Places Programs, the Sections 6E and 106 (NHPA) review processes and building and archaeological survey programs. HICRIS was developed by Department of Land and Natural Resource's State Historic Preservation Division (SHPD). SHPD oversees and maintains a broad range of data and information about Hawaiʻi's architectural, historic, cultural and archaeological properties.
