Justin Tyndall, Associate Professor of Economics at UHERO, will present findings from ongoing research on Hawaiʻi’s housing market. UHERO publishes the annual Hawaiʻi Housing Factbook, which provides data and analysis on home prices, rental trends, housing production, and recent policy developments across the state. UHERO’s research has identified key regulatory and policy barriers that hinder housing development in Hawaiʻi. Empirical evidence indicates that the limited supply of new housing is a significant factor contributing to the State’s current housing affordability crisis. The presentation will also highlight new research examining the potential impacts of increasing housing supply in Hawaiʻi.
