“Tired of the same-old, same-old? Struggling with plans that collect dust? Concerned about the fast pace of climate change and slow pace of action? Then this session is for you! Using the hot-off-the presses Kauaʻi Climate Adaptation and Action Plan as an example, this session will showcase innovations in community engagement, climate action-adaptation-equity integration, and how to make a plan easy to use for the busy people who have to implement it. Session attendees will learn about: One of the newest climate plans in the state, which addresses climate action (i.e., greenhouse gas reduction), climate adaptation, and equity An innovative approach for designing a plan for different audiences but focused on implementation by County staff, with viable funding and financing options How a wide range of both novel and “tried and true” approaches to community engagement can inform a plan”
