We are still learning about all of the effects of Coronavirus. Yet, we know that the prevalence of health
disparities, social determinants of health, and complex sociodemographic intersectionality in the LGBTQ older-adult community have left them vulnerable to the virus in ways many healthcare providers may not yet know.
Moreover, the inability to collect sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) data on Coronavirus diagnoses
and deaths have created questions that will impede our understanding of its full impact on older LGBT adults for
years to come. This session will explain and explore the disparate impact on the LGBTQ community and
suggest methods of collecting SOGI to help examine impact now and in the future.
