The presentation is rooted on a study that found that "teachers believed that their own multilingualism had been beneficial to their language learning, but they did not come to the same conclusion regarding their students (Haukas, 2015). Using the study we will have educators identify their own biases when it comes to language acquisitions. Using an asset model based thinking we will then have an activity for educators to explore how they too can create an inclusive culture in their schools. As well as how they can advocate for their newcomer and undocumented students.
