While Harrison School District #2 serves one of the most diverse populations in Colorado Springs, we are responding to barriers such as communication in several languages, cultural and familial expectations, state-level transportation guidelines that create inequity, teacher and bus driver shortages, inclusive practices for students accessing special education services, rewriting our school culture narrative, and challenging the status quo of career-connected learning. Through internships, site visits, job shadowing, and other work-based learning experiences, students gain valuable social capital by networking with school alumni, local businesses, and community partners.
