This presentation will offer a three-hour ethics workshop that will identify resolution to ensure an existing intersect between Professional Code of Ethics and Texas policy. It will offer information on evidence-based practices (EBP) when working with diversity at all levels, including special populations. Participants will develop their own intervention guides using EBP. Advocacy plans will be presented, and participants will develop practical plans for advocacy. Keeping in line with the conference theme "Making a Leap Forward" participants will address the need for mental health professionals to take a courageous step towards meeting the needs of clients while adjusting to the current Texas policies.
Objectives:
Participants will develop an advocacy plan by identifying 1-2 current Texas policies that conflict with the Professional Code of Ethics.
While working with diversity at the micro, mezzo, and macro levels, participants will identify 3-4 strategies and techniques that incorporate the intersection of policy and practice in the resolution of ethical dilemmas.
Participants will identify at least one evidence-based practice when working with special populations that are client-centered and within the spirit of the Professional Code of Ethics.
