An estimated 40 million people worldwide are exploited for commercial sex or forced labor. Human trafficking is happening every day across the United States, including in Idaho. Traffickers take advantage of transit for their illicit activities, using transit centers as locations to recruit victims or using transit to move their victims. Victims also rely on transit as a means of escape. Participants in this session will learn about human trafficking, its intersections with transit, best practices for transit anti-human trafficking initiatives, how to utilize BOTL's free training materials, and how to join local anti-trafficking efforts with the Idaho Anti-Trafficking Coalition. Participants will learn concrete actions they can take as transit managers to play an integral role in combating human trafficking in their communities.
