A community school is both a place and a set of partnerships between the school and other community resources. Using public schools as hubs, community schools help to create enduring relationships among educators, families, and community partners. Through this workshop, participants will gain an understanding of why community engagement is a vital step in the development of a community school, the importance of collaboration with a wide body of stakeholders during the community engagement process, including a focus on engaging key government bodies and elected officials, and strategies of community engagement to use in their own work.
