Tactical Rope Operations: Getting to the Edge R.A.N.T. Strategies 8 hour course Instructor BIO ​ Taylor is a current State Trooper / K-9 handler, Rappel Master/Rope Rescue - Paramedic and training coordinator at his home agency. He is also a founding member and the lead K-9 topics and Wwodland tactics instructor for RANT Strategies, which is both an operational and tactical medical training company. He has been a paramedic since 2004 and continues to function as one in his hometown. Taylor also holds a criminal justice degree from Frederick Community College and a certificate in Paramedicine from Thomas Jefferson University. Prior to his law enforcement career, Taylor was a New York City Firefighter where he worked in lower Manhattan. Rich is a Police Officer for the Philadelphia Police Department and is currently assigned to the Departments' SWAT Unit. In addition to being a SWAT "Operator" Rich also serves as a tactical paramedic, sniper, rescue specialist, hazardous materials technician/specialist and is a training coordinator/instructor within the unit. Rich has been in law enforcement since 2006, and EMS since 2001. Rich holds instructor certificates in several subjects including a Pennsylvania police instructor certification (MPOETC). Rich is still active in EMS and served as a command certified paramedic in Pennsylvania. He started his emergency services career in Philadelphia where he worked his way up from volunteer dispatcher, EMT and eventual Paramedic at a 911 Advanced Life Support (ALS) Ambulance service. Rich has an extensive knowledge/experience in multiple critical incidents where he has acted dual role as paramedic and officer while working in an major east coast city. Course description: "Getting to the Edge" is an 8 hour course designed to give personal who are responsible for tactical rope operations. This course will give the students the ability to establish emergency anchor systems with minimal equipment. Students will also learn the safe use of high angle personal protective equipment, as well as how to operate and manage personal tactical equipment in high angle environments. Student equipment: Uniform appropriate for conducting rope operations Gloves suitable for working with rope and rappel operations Class II or Class III harness (If you have one) Suitable helmet for rope access work
