Instructor BIO
Nicolas Deem is the owner of Flatfoot Solutions LLC. He has been a police officer since 2005 and became a Firearms Instructor in 2014. During his career at Lake Station he was the lead firearms instructor for both his department and Northwest Regional SWAT. He also taught multiple classes for Northwest Law Enforcement Academy (NILEA). He is currently employed by Indianapolis Metro PD and works in patrol on North District Lates as an FTO and assists the Firearms Unit as a Firearms Instructor.
Course description:
Basic Shotgun is for the officer who wants to learn more about the most effective weapon available to them. Officers will learn about the history, ballistics, maintenance, and how to run the shotgun efficiently while using a recoil reduction technique. Officers will learn how to shoot them accurately at distance, but also learn how to use them quickly at shorter ranges and how to make hostage taker shots with them. This course is geared for officers who carry a pump gun but officers with semi-autos are also welcomed to attend.
Student equipment:
200 rounds of Birdshot or Buckshot 25 rounds Duty Buck 25 Slugs 50 rounds Pistol Ball Ammo Properly Fitted Pump or Semi-Auto Shotgun (Youth or Magpul Stocks recommended) Tactical 2 point sling Side Saddle and either pants with cargo pockets or a belt with a dump pouch to carry spare ammo Duty Belt Service Weapon along with 3 Mags Eletronic Hearing Protection Eye Protection Water, Snacks, and a Sack Lunch
