During this session, participants will review the applicable excavation and trenching standards, identify common and high-risk hazards, and discuss practical, real-world practices for safe excavation in construction environments. The presentation will focus on hazard recognition, protective systems, soil classification, access and egress, and the roles and responsibilities of competent persons. Attendees will leave with actionable guidance they can apply in the field to help prevent cave-ins, struck-by incidents, and other excavation-related injuries.
