With the maturity of the P25 and DMR standards, the entry of TETRA, the growth of the NXDN protocol, and the proprietary extensions available; the choices for a digital system are greater than they have ever been. This session will provide an overview of each standard, with insights as to the Use Cases that leverage the advantages of each technology, as well as examples of where a different technology could have provided a better fitting or less costly solution. We will also discuss where the application of multi-technology equipment and systems can provide additional capabilities, interoperability, and cost effectiveness. Additionally, we will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of accepting proprietary extensions into a standards-based system.
