Participants will travel together to the National Gallery of Art’s West Building for a guided highlights tour featuring masterpieces from the 11th through 19th centuries by renowned artists such as da Vinci, Monet, van Gogh, and Cassatt. The group will then walk through the underground tunnel to the East Building to explore modern and contemporary works—including pieces by Picasso, Warhol, Rothko, and Calder—along with a visit to the rooftop of I. M. Pei’s architecturally striking space. From there, participants will continue on foot to the Smithsonian’s American Art Museum and National Portrait Gallery, where the final highlights tour will showcase notable works and exhibits such as New Deal–era art, Presidential portraits, Kaino’s Bridge, Katharine Hepburn’s Academy Awards, and Paik’s immersive Electronic Superhighway. The experience will conclude with lunch at a local restaurant.
